The Kevada Masjid is one of the cluster of fine Sultanate mosques that dot the historic city of Champaner. Set a little apart, amid what were once orchards and gardens, this graceful mosque — paired with an adjacent tomb (cenotaph) — is admired for its slender minarets, delicate carving, domes and the typical Gujarat Sultanate blend of Islamic and local architectural motifs.
Smaller than the great Jami Masjid but no less refined, it is one of the rewarding monuments to seek out on a walk through the Champaner-Pavagadh UNESCO park. A quieter jewel of Begada’s city. (An ASI/UNESCO monument; entry by ticket.)

Minarets & dome.
The Kevada Masjid dates to the fifteenth or sixteenth century, built during Champaner's decades as capital of the Gujarat Sultanate.
It is paired with an adjacent cenotaph — a mosque-and-tomb grouping that recurs across Champaner and marks the burial of whoever endowed the mosque.
It stands apart from the city core, among what were once orchards and garden plots on the edge of the settlement.
It forms part of the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, listed by UNESCO in 2004 as the most complete pre-Mughal Islamic city in India.

When to go
November to February is the season — the park's monuments are spread out and the walking is unshaded.
The monsoon greens the site and Pavagadh behind it, though the paths through the ruins turn muddy.
April to June is hot and exposed; start at opening or leave it for a cooler month.
