Why this site exists
Gujarat is enormous, varied and often wonderfully under-told. From the white salt desert of Kutch to the lion forests of Gir, the thousand-year-old stepwells, the temple towns, the long quiet coastline and the food that has its own devoted following — there is far more here than any one trip can hold. We started Gujarat Explorer because we kept wishing a single, honest, well-written guide to all of it existed. So we decided to build one. Everything you read here is researched and written by hand, in plain language, by people who have travelled these roads and care about getting the details right.

We use openly-licensed photos (Wikimedia and similar) and credit the source. Where a good free photo doesn't exist, we use a clearly-labelled illustration.

We're not a travel agency and we don't sell tours, hotels or tickets. No hidden sales pitch.

Timings, fairs and travel details change — we revisit and correct pages, and welcome your tips.

Gujarat Explorer is run by a small, independent group of writers and travellers — not a company, a tourism board or any official body.
