ABOUT THE PLACE

Succulents and butterflies

Among the cluster of gardens created around the Statue of Unity are two specialty attractions: the Cactus Garden and the Butterfly Garden. The Cactus Garden is a large, dome-and-landscape collection of hundreds of species of cacti and succulents from around the world — an unexpectedly fascinating display of desert flora.

The nearby Butterfly Garden is a landscaped habitat planted to attract and shelter many species of butterflies among flowering plants. Both are part of the greening and family-friendly development of Kevadia, and make a colourful, educational stop on a tour of the area.

Small but delightful corners of the complex, the two gardens together pair spines and wings — desert resilience beside fragile, fluttering life — for a short, rewarding wander on any tour of the Kevadia complex.
