COAST · OLD PORTSJamnagar's old sea gateways on the Gulf of Kutch — the historic ports of Bedi and Rozi, where fishing boats, salt pans and mangroves edge a quiet, working coast.
North of the city, where Jamnagar meets the Gulf of Kutch, lie its old maritime gateways — the ports of Bedi and Rozi. Once the busy sea-doors of the Nawanagar state, through which its merchant fleets traded across the gulf and beyond, they remain working coastlines today.
Fishing fleets unload their catch at the jetties, salt pans glitter along the shore, and mangroves and tidal mudflats fringe the creeks, drawing flamingos and migratory waders. Rozi is also a common embarkation point for permit boats out to Pirotan Island and the Marine National Park.
This is not a manicured tourist beach but an atmospheric, lived-in coast — a place to watch boats, birds and the daily rhythms of a fishing economy, and to sense the sea trade that once made Jamnagar rich.

The Rozi-Bedi coast is a working maritime landscape rather than a monument: stone and concrete jetties where fishing boats tie up, ranks of shallow salt pans evaporating sea water, and fringes of mangrove and tidal mudflat that shelter crabs, fish and a wealth of birds.
Its character is functional and atmospheric — nets drying, boats coming and going, salt heaped along the bunds — a slice of the everyday coastal economy of the Gulf of Kutch, and a reminder of the maritime trade on which Jamnagar was built.
