In the Sami region of Patan district lies Shankheshwar, one of the holiest and most celebrated Jain pilgrimage centres (tirths) in all of India. When to go
November to February is the comfortable season in north Gujarat and the easiest for a pilgrimage visit.
The monsoon greens the Patan countryside, and several Jain observances fall through these months.
April to June is hot and dry; arrive early in the morning before the heat and the crowds.
