Sightings of lions are far more reliable here than in the open park, making it especially popular with families and first-time visitors. While it lacks the wild unpredictability of a core-zone safari, Devalia is an easy, near-guaranteed and educational encounter with the famous wildlife of Gir. It makes a perfect complement to — or a fine substitute for — the main park safari.

When to go
November to February is the most comfortable season, and the best window for combining Devalia with the core zone and the Saurashtra coast.
The monsoon closes the Gir core zone for the breeding season, which makes Devalia the main option for those months.
March to May is hot, but sightings are at their best as animals concentrate around water — take the earliest slot.
