MUSEUM · ART · IDEASA museum of conflict and conscience — the Conflictorium in Ahmedabad, an inventive art space in an old building that invites visitors to explore conflict, diversity and peace.
The Conflictorium — Museum of Conflict is one of Ahmedabad’s most original and thought-provoking spaces, a small independent museum set in a beautifully repurposed old building (the former Gool Lodge) in the Mirzapur area. Rather than displaying objects behind glass, it uses interactive installations, art, sound and personal stories to invite visitors to reflect on conflict in all its forms — social, political, personal and communal — and on the possibilities of dialogue, diversity and peace.
Exhibits range from a ‘moral compass’ to rooms of memory and creative responses to histories of conflict and harmony. Intimate, creative and often moving, the Conflictorium is a refreshing contemporary counterpoint to Ahmedabad’s ancient monuments — a place that engages the mind and heart, especially rewarding for those interested in art, society and ideas. (A small independent museum; entry is generally free.)
