A lakeside escape
Gaurishankar Lake (Gaurishankar Talav) is one of Bhavnagar’s most cherished spots — a large, calm reservoir on the edge of the city, created to supply water and now a much-loved place for morning walks, evening strolls and quiet recreation.
Its wooded banks are dotted with landmarks: the elegant Bhav Vilas pavilion overlooking the water, the lakeside Thapnath Mahadev temple, gardens and shaded walking paths. With its still water mirroring the sky, birdlife along the shallows and old trees, the lake is a refreshing green-and-blue escape from the bustle of the city.

Bhav Vilas, an elegant pavilion, stands overlooking the water — a piece of princely leisure architecture rather than waterworks.
Thapnath Mahadev, a Shiva temple, rises on the bank and gives the lakeside its devotional anchor.
It has settled into being the city's walking lake, busiest at dawn and again in the hour before sunset.

When to go
November to February is best — comfortable for walking and the peak of the migratory bird season on the water.
The monsoon fills the lake and greens the banks, though the paths get muddy underfoot.
April to June is hot and the level drops; walk at dawn or after sunset only.
